André Maeder manages all luxury department stores of Signa and Central Group

More responsibility for the Kadewe Group CEO. André Maeder becomes Managing Director of the Luxury Department Store Group.

On April 1, Kadewe Group Managing Director André Maeder will also take on the role of CEO of the European luxury department store group, KadeWe confirmed to FashionUnited. He will perform his new position in parallel with his existing role. The industry magazine Textilwirtschaft had previously reported on the personnel.

The Luxury Department Store Group is part of the Austrian conglomerate Signa and its partner Central Group. The group brings together the luxury fashion department stores Selfridges in Great Britain, De Bijenkorf in the Netherlands, Brown Thomas Arnotts in Ireland, Globus in Switzerland and the German Kadewe Group. In future, Maeder will report directly to the two co-chairmen, Tos Chirathivat from Central Group and Dieter Berninghaus from Signa.

The group’s goal is “to create a leading global luxury group that drives the implementation of the vision to reinvent retail and define the department store of tomorrow,” according to the statement.

Many years of experience at home and abroad

Maeder has had a long career in the fashion world. Before he became Managing Director of the KaDeWe Group in 2014, he was Chief Retail Officer of Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH from 2012. From 2009 to 2011 he managed the business of the Swiss fashion chain Charles Vögele Group as CEO. Positions as head of sales at the fashion group Hugo Boss from 2004 to 2008 and as head of product at the clothing manufacturer S.Oliver also belong in his CV. Prior to that, he was Chief Retail & Merchandise Officer at British luxury department store Harrods in London for six years from 1995 to 2001.
