‘And Martijn Krabbé? He’s shaking!’

Television karma: on the evening that RTL Boulevard opens with the news that NPO 1 has scored so poorly lately, home base RTL 4 is completely crushed. And precisely because of that competitor.

Oh, oh, oh: NPO 1 has been scoring poorly lately. They couldn’t stop talking about it yesterday in the opening item of RTL Boulevard. That’s exactly right, but it is quite distressing that NPO 1 of all people completely crushed the new Saturday evening of RTL 4 yesterday. Marieke Elsinga’s TV bridge collapses and Martijn Krabbé disappoints.

TV bridge collapses

Marieke has to endure a lot with her program The Jump, in which she throws candidates with insufficient factual knowledge off a bridge. It didn’t score well, but since yesterday there has been fierce competition from Even Tot Hier. After 888 thousand, 736 thousand and 631 thousand viewers, there were now only 532 thousand viewers in front of the TV.

What does Tina Nijkamp think about that? “Well, if this continues like this it will end up with 300,000 viewers,” she wrote analysis channel. “That’s probably not the case, but will there be a follow-up to this? Seems insecure to me. It is now at Hotel Hollandia level in terms of numbers.”

And what about Martijn?

And what about Martijn Krabbé? It started beforehand at 8 p.m. with a new program with Jelka van Houten, namely All Against 1. That started with 629 thousand viewers, which is also not a big deal. “That is simply too little and the worst 20 hour Saturday score of this autumn for RTL4. Oh What a Year with Chantal scored much higher.”

All Against 1 has been promoted on RTL 4 for weeks. “So at least 800,000 viewers was the target, I think. It is a major disappointment, especially for Martin Krabbé and Jelka van Houten. For Martijn it was the first live show since The Voice and for Jelka the first live show ever on TV.”

Shivering

Those two must be feeling really stressed now, Tina thinks. “No cake, but mainly shivering for episode two, because it seems highly uncertain to me whether the viewing figures will remain the same.”

The commercial competitor SBS 6 is not doing much better: Ranking the Talent drops to 396 thousand viewers. “Johnny de Mol almost never has a flop, but now he did. Ouch. Afterwards, Kees Tol again doesn’t even touch 300 thousand with Casino Royaal: 288 thousand viewers. Fortunately, it’s almost Monday again for SBS 6.”

Just Until Here in the lead

What causes all that TV suffering? The enormous success of Even Tot Hier. The season premiere attracted more than 2 million viewers to NPO 1 yesterday. “It is the best season opening so far. It is the tenth season of Even Tot Hier, but never before has the first episode scored so high and above 2 million. Incredibly handsome.”

Tina concludes: “It is also the fourth most watched episode ever. The most watched episode was December 18, 2021 with 2.3 million viewers. Conclusion: this season will probably rain records and viewers are happy that it is back. These viewing figures say that we missed the program enormously.”
