Carlo Ancelotti has described his future job as a national coach of record world champion Brazil as a “important challenge”. By May 26, he was still a trainer of Real Madrid. “I would like to complete that. I have to think of the days that I have to stay here, and because of the great respect I have in front of this club, the fans and the players, I am fully focused on what I have to do in the last section of this spectacular adventure,” said the Italian at a press conference in Madrid.
The Brazilian association announced on Monday that Ancelotti signed a contract and that Seleção will lead to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The coach originally had a contract until 2026 in Madrid. After a disappointing season, in which only the UEFA supercup may remain as the title, there had been speculation about an upcoming departure for weeks.
According to matching media reports, Bayer Leverkusen’s master coach Xabi Alonso is said to be the successor. “I like Xabi very much. I have no advice because he has all the prerequisites to be a great coach in the future,” said Ancelotti about Alonso, whom he once trained.
Despite the problems at the end of his second term in Madrid, the 65-year-old took a very positive balance. It was a time that he will never forget, he emphasized. “No, I don’t go with a feeling of frustration. If someone had told me when I arrived that I would win eleven titles with Real Madrid, I would have signed it immediately.” This last season “did not go well for many reasons”.

The Spanish record champion has not yet commented on a coaching staff. “Real Madrid will make an explanation when the club thinks it is right. There is no problem here,” emphasized Ancelotti. According to the Brazilian Association, there is nothing more to add.
For Ancelotti, have a good time to end. It was aware that this adventure ended at some point. “I had a great time and I think everyone here had a great time. I never had a problem with the club. I wear the club in my heart and will continue to wear it in my heart.”
