Russian Olympic champion and secretary general of the country’s Olympic Committee Anastasia Davydova has left Russia. Match TV got hold of the resignation letter of the Olympic boss, in which the former skilled swimmer said that he was not going to return to his home country. The exact reason for the departure is unknown.

Davydova was responsible for her own figure skating center in Russia. The resignation letter was written to the center’s staff.

Davydova won Olympic gold in 2004 in Athens, 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London a total of five times. In 2014, he took on the role of head of the office.

The Russian Duma expressed its disappointment at Davydova’s departure.

– Anastasija competed for the glory of Russia. He was indeed an excellent athlete, but his career is already over. Departure is his own business. Condemning a person’s departure is not part of our customs, Boris Paykin from the Duma commented on Match TV.

Another representative of the Duma Roman Terjushkov had a slightly different opinion.

– Only a person with strong ties to the country of his birth can experience joys and sorrows in the country. His place will be taken by someone who loves this country more. One who is proud and ready to defend our honor to the end, Terjuškov said Sport.ru– website.

President Vladimir Putin last week ordered a “partial” business suspension, which has congested border traffic out of the country.
