An explosion causes at least 14 injuries in the House of Culture of Girona

an explosion in the Girona House of Culture, in the Plaza del Hospital, this Friday late afternoon has caused at least 13 injuries, as confirmed by the Fire Department.

The event took place around a quarter to eight and at the moment neither the number of people affected nor the seriousness of the injuries have been disclosed. According to Civil Protection, there is one serious injury, four “less serious” injuries and nine minor ones. Among them there are minors.

The Firefighters have sent 6 crews, and units from the Mossos d’Esquadra and five from the Emergency Medical System (SEM) are also active. The first information indicates that the deflagration would have taken place when some experiments were being carried out within the framework of the European Night of Research and a liquid nitrogen canister exploded during one of the exhibitions in the courtyard of the enclosure.

The most seriously wounded would be the one carrying out the experiment.
