The bridge hangs less than 7 meters above the IJhaven, while the masts of a ship from Argentina that are already lying above the buildings, the spokesperson sees on the spot.
And so machines lift the parts of 29 and 20 meters long and 22.5 meters wide from pontoons on the water. The job is ready by Wednesday, the spokesperson expects.
Fourth time that bridge is dismantled
It is the fourth time that the traffic bridge has been dismantled between the Eastern Handelskade and the west side of the Java Island. After the construction in 2000 this happened for the first time during the Sail from 2005, then each edition with the exception of ‘Corona Year’ 2020.
The bridge will be put together again on August 25 and is therefore maintained in places that are dismantled by the way easily accessible.
