Prague (dpa -AfX) – Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj and his wife Olena arrived for a two -day visit to Prague. At the airport, the two were welcomed by the Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky, as he announced on the X platform on Sunday.
At the Prague Castle, Selenskyj was supposed to come together with President Petr Pavel and Prime Minister Petr Fiala. A main topic is likely to be the Czech grenade initiative, which plays an important role in the supply of Ukraine with a large-caliber ammunition.
From the beginning of the year to the end of April, the Czech information initiative has already delivered 400,000 rounds of artillery ammunition from third countries to Ukraine. A total of around 1.5 million shots should be up to the end of the year- just as much as in 2024. Numerous EU and NATO partners take part in the financing.
The entire castle area with the presidential seat was closed to tourists for security reasons. For Selenskyj it is the second visit to the Czech Republic. His host, the ex-Nato general Pavel, had only visited the Ukrainian Odessa at the end of March./Hei/dp/he
