Former Super Bowl champion Sebastian Vollmer still believes Equanimeous St. Brown of the Green Bay Packers can have a great career in the NFL. The difficult past few years have not changed that for the now 25-year-old German-American.
“I already said back then that he was working his way up to number one receiver in the Packers. I still have this wish and demand for him. Because he absolutely has the skills to do so,” Vollmer told the “German Press Agency”. Reference to a lengthy meeting with St. Brown a few years ago. “Not every career always starts out rosy. It’s the toughest league in the world.”
St. Brown had lost his roster spot with the Packers earlier in the season. Although he has been used in 13 of the 16 games this season so far, statistically he has much worse values than the average of his career – also because he is used less as a pass receiver and is more on the field in special situations such as a punt.
Vollmer, who has played his entire career with the New England Patriots alongside Tom Brady and won the Super Bowl twice, says even leaving the Packers after this season’s contract end wouldn’t be a drama for St. Brown. “Many started a career somewhere and ended it very successfully elsewhere. Well, that doesn’t mean anything,” said the 37-year-old. “He has everything he needs for a great, long career. I wish and hope that for him.”
The Packers will meet the San Francisco 49ers, who have German Mark Nzeocha under contract, in the divisional round of the playoffs on Sunday night (2:15 a.m. CET). For a long time, the 32-year-old from Franconia had no place with the team he was with in the Super Bowl in 2020 and has only been back for a good three weeks.
