American Football | NFL: Denver Broncos find new head coach

The Denver Broncos have signed Sean Payton as their new head coach for the upcoming NFL season. This was officially announced by the Colorado football team.

Several US media had previously reported during the week. According to information from the sports broadcaster “ESPN”, Payton will receive a five-year contract with the Broncos.

They had to come to an agreement with the New Orleans Saints, where the 59-year-old Payton was still under contract. According to the information, the Broncos are giving the Saints a first-round vote in the upcoming draft for young players.

Payton is one of the NFL’s most prominent coaches, winning the Super Bowl once with the Saints in 15 years as head coach. In Denver, he is tasked with helping quarterback Russell Wilson lead the Broncos back to the playoffs after a disappointing first season.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Payton said in an interview published on the Broncos’ Twitter channel. Payton, like Broncos owner Greg Penner, emphasized in a statement that it is about making the traditional franchise successful again.
