Preparations are currently still in full swing and the candy is being diligently prepared by volunteers from Scholengroep De Pinker from Poperinge, Athletics Club KA Olympic Essenbeek Halle, schools
De Regenboog and De Vlieger from Zwevezele, vzw Boven De Wolken, BSBO De Horizon from Aalst and vzw Kloen from Roeselare. Only later this afternoon will the actual construction of the cake begin, which will last until tomorrow morning. There will be 349,089 candies on it.
On Sunday evening the cake will be officially cut by founder Wilfried Ameel and several other prominent names within the organization. The mayors of Waregem and Roeselare will also be present. After that event, no less than 12,000 pieces will be distributed free of charge among the six associations. They can then sell them to finance their activities.
