Amazon Sanne Thijssen surprises and jumps in 100,000 euros with a win in Madrid | Other sports

Amazon Sanne Thijssen has caused a surprise by winning the Global Champions Tour match in Madrid. It marked the pinnacle of the career of the 23-year-old Dutchman.

Thijssen also remained clear in the jump-off on the back of Con Quidam RB and recorded the best time: 39.15 seconds. She was therefore faster than the Irishman Darragh Kenny and the Brazilian Marlon Módolo Zanotelli, who both clocked 39.91. After the last hurdle Thijssen couldn’t believe her luck and she clenched her fist. She earned 100,000 euros with her victory.

,,I knew before the last hurdle that I was in the right time, so I took that hurdle a bit on the safe side. Con Quidam RB was 100 percent concentrated. He finished fantastic and it was a great feeling when I crossed the finish line. When I was younger it was so easy for Con Quidam RB and me. I didn’t realize then how unique and good Con Quidam RB is,” said Thijssen, who finished third at the Dutch Championships three weeks ago. “We have really grown to this level together. It’s incredible to beat all those good riders here. I always had a dream to win a Global Grand Prix. Now I have the chance to ride the Globals and it’s great that it really works.”

The competition in Madrid was the fourth stop of the Global Champions Tour, a circuit for the best show jumping riders in the world. With the victory in the Spanish capital, Thijssen is assured of the super final of the Global Champions Tour in Prague.
