That was the height of tastelessness: Amazon had disgusting Putin propaganda shirts on offer!
The Internet giant had listed various shirts and with the “Z” symbol by Tuesday afternoon.
What it’s all about?
The white “Z” is emblazoned on the tanks and military vehicles used by Russian forces to invade Ukraine. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the character stands for the slogan “For Victory”. Translated into English, the expression is written “za pobedoy”.
The “Z” is now emblazoned on many cars in Russia or is used in social media.
For Ukrainians, it is associated with the death and suffering that the war brought to their homeland. After various tips, the disgusting products have now been removed from the shop.
Amazon boss to donate revenue
Andriy Melnyk (46), the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, is appalled. He told BILD: “It is a scandal that Amazon offered clothing with the Z symbol, which symbolizes the Russian war of annihilation against the Ukrainians. Good that these goods are no longer sold.”
He warns: “We urgently appeal to Amazon and other mail-order companies to take a close look at their range again in order to prevent the Kremlin’s aggression from being downplayed. At the same time, we once again call on all German companies to cease doing business in Russia as long as Putin wages his perfidious, bloody war against the Ukrainian state and civilian population.”

Marquardt: “Amazon should donate the money earned to the victims of the war, because it is wrong to earn money with a war of aggression, death and suffering. Jeff Bezos’ fortune is greater than Ukraine’s GDP.”
Marquardt continued: “I demand that Bezos do a serious part to alleviate the suffering and not donate a few million while he earns additional billions from crises.”
