Quick Lions currently plays in the first division, which is the highest level in the Netherlands after the BNXT League and the promotion class. It now has eleven teams playing in different competitions. It held up well against Donar for a long time. “We made a spectacle of it. We lost by a difference of 21 points, but that is actually bizarrely good. Normally you lose by a difference of forty or fifty points.”
Dream
A similar match recently took place in football. Kolping Boys from Oudorp took on Premier League side FC Groningen in the cup. Now it’s happening to the Quick Lions basketball players. “It’s as if the amateur club Ajax comes to visit. You play a match against a club that you used to want to play for. It’s as if you can make your dream come true for once.”
With the unforgettable evening fresh in his memory, Steur hopes that the club can continue to grow. The ambition is to play in the promotion class next season. The Bussumers, who received their PhD last year, are now well on their way. They are currently first in the first division.
