At the beginning of November, DJ Amanda Harkimo, 34, was sentenced to a fine for drunk driving and two drug use offences.

The police preliminary investigation material reveals what Harkimo told the police about his party.

The police stopped Harkimo on May 26, 2025 in Helsinki on Linnavuorentie because Harkimo was driving an uninspected car. As a routine measure, the police administered a blow to Harkimo.

Harkimo blew into the breathalyzer with a reading of 0.21 mg/l and the rapid drug test showed positive. Harkimo had used cocaine. The police took Harkimo to the forensic medicine emergency room for blood tests.

The police also searched the car driven by Harkimo. A good 0.5 grams of marijuana was found in the car, which the police confiscated.

Harkimo was ordered to a temporary driving ban.

Harkimo was consulted on the matter on July 9. Harkimo admitted to all three suspected crimes during interrogations.

From a party in a Helsinki hotel

Harkimo told the police that he had been there on the 25th and 26th. May at a hotel party in Hakaniemi, Helsinki. During the interrogation, Harkimo did not remember the name of the hotel.

Harkimo told Iltalehte on September 12 that he used one line of cocaine during the night.

– It’s a really sad thing and I really want to open the matter. There is no explanation that times were tough, but I was at a party and ended up giving it a try. I took one loan [viivan] cocaine, Harkimo commented to Iltalehte in September.

– The next morning I felt so terrible about it that I wanted to go home immediately, Harkimo described.

However, during the police interrogation in July, Harkimo said that the number was larger.

– I had used cocaine and alcohol in the evening. 3–4 shots of cocaine and, well, I can’t estimate, but quite a few drinks, Harkimo answered when asked about the intoxicants used during the evening.

Harkimo used cocaine in a nightclub located in the heart of Helsinki. When the police asked about the origin of the drugs, Harkimo hesitated.

– I don’t know, there was a Morris in the bar, whom I didn’t know before and I got it from him, Harkimo said.

The morning after the party, Harkimo was on his way home when the police stopped him in Teboil’s yard. Harkimo told the police that he drove the car for about 10-15 minutes before the police stopped him.

The police also confiscated about 0.5 grams of marijuana from the car. Harkimo had clearer information about the origin of the drug in question.

– I had received it from Seinäjoki and was taking it to a friend. I didn’t remember at all that it was there in the car, Harkimo said.

Where did marijuana come from?

– I was at a DJ gig in Seinäjoki and a customer from the bar there gave it to me behind the DJ booth. That’s where the gang comes to give and feel anything, Harkimo continued.

According to Harkimo, he did not intend to use marijuana himself, but to give it to a friend.

Finally, the police asked Harkimo if he wanted to say anything else related to the topic.

– I am super sorry and I will never act like this again.

Harkimo was sentenced in Helsinki district court to a 40-day fine, which makes his income a total of 240 euros. The judgment is not binding.
