Anisimova kept bad memories of the Polish number two in the world. Earlier this year she suffered a hopeless defeat against Swiatek in the final of Wimbledon. Anisimova then dripped off without having won a game (0-6 0-6).

‘Coming back from Wimbledon is really special for me’

Amanda Anisimova

In the chat on the track afterwards, Anisimova naturally reacted excitedly. “Playing here is so incredibly special. I have the time of my life here. The first day I was here, I thought:” Okay, let’s try to get through one round. “This was really a dream. Just coming back from Wimbledon is really special for me.”

Anisimova: “I really worked hard to turn the tide, but today was the proof for me: I can do it, so this was really special. From the beginning I tried to boost myself. Iga is one of the strongest players I have ever seen and I knew I should go very deeply. It was really a big game for me.”

It is the first time that Anisimova reached the semi -final in New York. In addition to Wimbledon, Swiatek won four times Roland Garros and the US Open in 2022.

Noami Osaka

Naomi Osaka is the opponent of Anisimova in the semi -final. The raised winner of 2018 and 2020 settled in two sets with Karolina Muchova from the Czech Republic: 6-4 and 7-6 (3). The other half final battle goes between Aryna Sabalenka and the American Jessica Pegula. Both duels will be finished next night.
