Altmaier as the first German in round two

First German sense of achievement in Roland Garros: After the exit of Jule Niemeier, Oscar Otte and Tatjana Maria, Daniel Altmaier has reached the second round of the French Open for the second time in his career.

The 24-year-old won 6:3, 6:4, 6:4 against Swiss Marc-Andrea Hüsler.

The 24-year-old had already caused a sensation in Paris in 2020 when, among other things, he marched to the round of 16 by beating Davis Cup colleague Jan-Lennard Struff.

This time he showed a concentrated performance from the start and didn’t give his Swiss opponent a chance. Italian Jannik Sinner, who was eighth, could wait in the second round.
