At the end of February, the NMBS indicated CAF as preferred bidder for the delivery of possible up to 600 new trains. However, the Council of State suspended that first decision because it was not transparent enough. The NMBS reconfirmed the earlier decision at the end of July. Even after a number of recalculations, CAF was the best candidate based on all criteria used, for Alstom and the German Siemens.
The trade unions fear that the choice for CAF can mean the end of the Alstom factory in Bruges. A few more employees put the work there on Monday, because they wanted clarity from the management. He explained, on which the work was resumed.
