    Cameron Alexander (CAN)

Cameron Alexander also makes a mistake at the top, sits in the back and loses control. He’s coming on strong and can therefore stay on course. After that, it was a very cautious ride for the Canadian, who crossed the finish line a long way behind.

    Nils Allegre (FRA)

During the short break, Nils Allegre perhaps got the first information about the momentum that was causing problems for Cochran-Siegle and Eichberger. But the Frenchman is already having his first problems higher up, skiing a steep transition with a lot of inside position and losing pressure on the outside ski. It’s not the only corner where Allegre has problems. Even before the last steep slope he was over a second behind. He can make up half a second because of Cochran-Siegle’s mistake, but he won’t be able to be at the front with this trip.

    Race interrupted

The Austrian punched away the blue goal that Eichberger missed to protect himself. The race is therefore briefly interrupted and the gate has to be screwed back into the slope.

  • 7:03 p.m

    Stefan Eichberger (AUT)

Now the first Austrian. And Eichberger also has problems in the steepest section before the finish, Rosi’s Face, named after Rosi Mittermaier. The transition to the last steep slope is narrow. A swing to the right is quickly followed by a hidden blue goal, which Cochran-Siegle also had problems with. Eichberger can no longer control in time and is eliminated.

  • 7:01 p.m

    Ryan Cochran-Siegle (USA)

In the upper part it is a fairly flat course, only from the middle the terrain becomes significantly steeper. Shortly before the finish, Cochran-Siegle approaches a gate much too straight and can just about stay on course. But he even falls slightly and catches himself, but a lot of time has passed. The first recommended time after the error was 1:08.53.

  • 6:59 p.m

    Let’s go

The light is quite flat in Copper Mountain. The race will be opened by local hero Ryan Cochran-Siegle, the American will wear start number 1.

Kilde celebrates an emotional comeback after long hardships

Kilde will provide the most emotional moment today with his comeback. On January 13, 2024, the Norwegian fell violently on the Lauberhorn descent in Wengen, the injuries were life-threatening. 22 months have passed since then, and the recovery was always accompanied by setbacks – ups and downs. During this time, Kilde became engaged to Mikaela Shiffrin. The best skier of all time was also injured last season and Kilde required further operations. The couple got through the difficult times together. Now, 684 days after his crash, the Norwegian returns to the World Cup with start number 22.

    DSV is hardly competitive anymore

The once strong German speed team is in a state of upheaval after several resignations. The hopes lie more with the young riders who are not yet represented in the World Cup. Last year, no driver was able to seriously compete at the front; Baumann (start number 46) was the only German in the top 30 of the discipline rankings. Simon Jocher had to end last season early due to a spinal disc operation and would like to make a good return today with start number 36. Anton Grammel, who showed some strong giant slalom performances last year, is also celebrating his Super-G debut with start number 70.

ÖSV drivers also want to fight for victory

The Austrians also did well last winter and had Kriechmayr (now starting number 7) as the third best Super-G rider of the season. Haaser (13) was able to set an exclamation mark with World Cup silver and Feurstein (8) with victory at the World Cup final in Sun Valley. Eichberger (2), Babinsky (5), Hemetsberger (25) and Allrounder Schwarz (30) are also worth paying attention to.

    The favorites come from Switzerland

The two Alpine nations Austria and Switzerland dominated the Super-G World Cup last winter. In the discipline ranking, seven riders in the top ten came from these two Alpine republics. The Swiss were the strongest: Odermatt won the small ball, Rogentin came second and von Allmen fourth. The three start today with starting numbers 9 to 11. With Monney (starting number 20), who came eighth in the discipline ranking, another Confederate can be trusted to do a lot.

  • 6:35 p.m

    Short speed opening

After the technicians have already completed six races in Sölden, Levi and Gurgl, the speed start in Copper Mountain is a short one. Only the Super G will be held this long weekend, and there will be other technical races with the men’s giant slalom and the women’s giant slalom and slalom. Things won’t really get going for the speed riders until next week with two runs on the well-known Birds of Prey in Beaver Creek.
