The club made its debut in the NWSL in mid-March. Schult: “Very difficult decision”
Schult had not accepted an offer from VfL Wolfsburg to extend her expiring contract. In the autumn of her career, the successful soccer player, mother of twins since 2020, is looking for a new challenge in the country of the world champions. “It was a very difficult decision because I know what I have at this club,” she said of Wolfsburg. And about her upcoming farewell: “I’m trying not to let it get too close to me. What counts for me now is getting the most out of this season.”

Schult has won 13 major titles with VfL. Three more can follow before the US adventure begins. With three games to go in the Bundesliga, the Lower Saxony side have a four-point lead over defending champions and pursuers FC Bayern and are also in the semi-finals of the Champions League and the DFB Cup.
