Now that the sailing season has started again, it is top crowd in the marina of Drimmelen to launch the boats again. “It starts to itch again with many people,” says harbor master Tjeerd Brouwers.
“The nice spring weather has begun, so we hope it will be full again,” says the harbor master satisfied. Last winter it was all Hens on deck to prepare Jachthaven Biesbosch for the sailing season. For example, the jetties were given a thorough cleaning. The bunches can be released again since the start of this month.
“You now notice the sun shines that people are working on the boat to go on the water again,” says owner Huib Snoek van Snoek Jachtstalling. At the family business in Drimmelen, speed is made to get the four hundred boats that lie in the water. Twenty to twenty -five ships are put into the water every day.
This is also the case with Erik Oomens from Oosterhout. “We are already far ready,” says the experienced skipper, who has quickly applied a low growing paint on his boat. He only has to carry out minor maintenance before he has the wind in his sails and can sail on the Zeeland waters and sea.
A little further on, the Dongense Mariska Cloitt with her husband. “He is there again, so we are far ready,” she says. Next weekend the couple will be busy brushing the boat, then they sail towards the Aakvlaai near Hank and to Den Bosch, Willemstad and Heusden. What Mariska is most looking forward to? “Sun,” she says happily, pointing up with sunglasses in her hand. “A snack and a drink and just enjoy the water.”
