All information about start, content and price

The streaming market is highly competitive. With Paramount+, a new provider will soon be coming onto the German market, which is already very successful in the USA.

The Paramount+ streaming service has been around in its current form since 2021, before that it was called “CBS All Access”. Since the renaming, the provider, which is already very successful in the USA, has been expanding strongly again. Now a start date for Germany is finally known. And it won’t be long in coming.

Germany start planned for 2022

An exact date for the release of Paramount+ has not yet been set, but there is now a fairly precise time window. Streaming fans should mark December 2022 in bold on their calendars, according to official information. Then the streaming service should not only start in this country, but also in Austria and Switzerland, among other places.

After Disney, Paramount is another company with its own studio that decides to no longer offer its own content to the competition. Instead, the films, series and shows will be available on their own streaming service in the future.

cost and availability

Anyone who already has a Sky-Q subscription with a cinema package will benefit from the new offer right from the start. The service will then be integrated free of charge due to the previous cooperation between Paramount and Sky. The provider will also be available for everyone else from the same point in time. Then, however, 7.99 euros per month are due.

From the start, Paramount+ should run directly on Android and iOS as well as on the common smart TV systems and game consoles. Since the streaming provider has been available in the USA for some time, availability should not be a problem in this country either.

It is not yet known when and whether the offer will be integrated into national services such as MagentaTV or GigaTV.

Series and movies at Paramount+

Because Paramount+ is a rebrand of CBS All Access, the streaming service brings a lot of content with it. One of the biggest names in the portfolio is certainly “Star Trek”. So far, Paramount has rolled out new “Star Trek” projects through other providers such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. This is about to change with Paramount+. Fans can therefore look forward to a platform that finally offers all the content of the popular franchise in one place. Whether “Picard” and Co. will then disappear from the competition is likely, but not yet confirmed. Due to existing contracts, this will certainly not happen right at the start.

But other major productions are also available right from the release of the streaming service, including “South Park”, “The First Lady”, “Yellowjackets” and “SpongeBob SquarePants”. In addition, some German productions are to be implemented especially for the local market. Among other things, a thriller and a series by the screenwriter of “Bad Banks”, Jana Burbach, are to come.

A current well-known international project is “The Chemistry of Death” with Katie Leung and Harry Treadaway. A total of 150 originals are planned for Paramount+ by 2025. However, it is not yet officially known how extensive the offer for the Germany start will be.
