The 2024 European Football Championship in Germany is casting its shadow ahead. Group D with France, the Netherlands, Austria and a playoff qualifier is considered one of the tournament’s toughest groups. All information about the game schedule, TV times and team checks can be found at sport.de.
Anyone who finds preliminary group A with Germany, Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland at the 2024 European Football Championship tricky may not have taken a look at European Championship Group D yet.
There are already strong teams facing each other: vice world champions France, the Netherlands and Austria. Poland, Estonia, Wales and Finland will determine the fourth group participant in the playoffs at the end of March.

European Football Championship 2024 in Germany, Group D: France in the team check
- Vice world champion France won the European Championship ticket as winner of qualification group B.
- With 22 points (seven wins, one draw) and 29:3 goals, the Équipe Tricolore were unbeaten ahead of the Netherlands (18 points), Greece (13), Ireland (6) and Gibraltar (0).
- France clearly won the qualifying duels with the Netherlands 4-0 and 2-1. The two top nations will meet again at the European Championships in Germany.
- The two-time world champion (1998, 2018) and reigning runner-up is one of the big favorites for the European Championship triumph. - France is taking part in a European Championship for the eleventh time.
- With two European Championship titles (1984, 2000), one final appearance (2016) and two semi-final appearances (1960, 1996), the Équipe Tricolore occupies fourth place in the all-time European Championship table behind Germany, Italy and Spain.
- In 2021, the then reigning World Cup champion was sensationally eliminated in the round of 16 (4:5 on penalties against Switzerland).

- Austria Solved the European Championship ticket as second in qualifying group F.
- With 19 points (six wins, one draw, one defeat), the ÖFB team only had to bow to Belgium (20 points). Ralf Rangnick’s team scored well against Sweden (10 points), Azerbaijan (7) and Estonia (1).
- For years, Austria has been said to have a golden generation of footballers. The fourth participant in European Championship Group D will be determined from four teams on playoff path A.
On Thursday, March 21st, the following will face each other:
- Poland – Estonia (8:45 p.m.)
- Wales v Finland (8:45 p.m.)
The winners of these games will determine the European Championship participants in a playoff on March 26th.
