Journalists who want to develop further professionally or brush up on their skills can now visit the Training Finder for journalists. This is a free online tool that provides insight into journalism education, training and other opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills.

Training Finder for journalists brings together a wide range of training courses and helps users find training that matches their ambitions and learning goals. By means of a short questionnaire, journalists receive an overview of available workshops, training and education from various providers. Training courses from Bladendokter Academy can also be found at dDe Scholingsvinder. The tool is an initiative of the Special Journalistic Projects Fund (BJP Fund) and was developed by Studio Winegum.

The demand for further training in journalism is increasing. Developments in the field of data journalism, research techniques, digital security, AI literacy and entrepreneurship are occurring at a rapid pace and require new knowledge and skills. At the same time, research by the BJP Fund and signals from the sector show that many journalists have difficulty gaining an overview of the existing journalistic training offering.

The Training Finder for journalists brings together journalistic education, training, development programs and workshops and conferences in one place. Via a manually checked and up-to-date database and an AI-supported question module, users receive a personal overview of training options – without ranking – that match their learning goals and ambitions, after which users can click directly to the relevant trainer or provider.

To develop the Training Finder, the BJP Fund collaborated with trainers, knowledge institutions and other organizations that are committed to strengthening journalism. Their offer is included in the database. With the launch of the Training Finder, the BJP Fund is further building an infrastructure that supports journalists in their professional development. The BJP Fund previously developed the Fund Finder for journalists, an online tool with which journalists can find financing options for journalistic projects.
