Sales of spirits, especially vodkas and spirits, also fell.

It has been reported for years that alcohol consumption among young people has decreased. Alko’s product communication manager Anri Lindström’s according to this can also be seen on the wine shelf.

– We notice in our own customers that young people are indeed interested in wines, but from a slightly different point of view.

According to Lindström, young people approach purchasing situations practically.

– In the beginning, you don’t necessarily come to pick up a certain product like red wine, but you go for a drink for a situation, like a night out with friends. The purchasing behavior of young people also seems to be combined with the awareness of their own values and goals to find the best possible value for money; it is not necessarily the cheapest option, he says.
