F1 team Alfa Romeo announced on Friday that it is changing its main partner. Stake, which became the new title sponsor, replaces the Polish oil company Orlen.

The change also knows with the highest probability Robert Kubican Final end of F1 career.

Thanks to Orlen’s money, Kubica, 38, was able to drive for Alfa Romeo in the previous three seasons in a few Friday tests, as well as to replace someone who was sick with corona Kimi Räikkönen in two races in the 2021 season.

Although Kubica was once one of the best drivers in the F1 pit, the veteran driver got his second chance at the formula circus entirely thanks to Orlen.

Kubica, who was fatally injured in a rally accident before the start of the 2011 season, returned as a race driver in 2019 in the ranks of Williams. A lousy car didn’t help, and a decent garage mate From George Russell showed Kubica to be far from the old driving hero we got to know him as before the rally accident.

Orlen transferred his support zloty to AlphaTauri. However, Red Bull’s junior team has no need to worry about the F1 veteran in training, as there are enough of their own drivers behind them.

No bitterness

Kubica, who won one race in his career, can ask a big “what if?” – question. He had already agreed on a transfer to Ferrari for the 2012 season, but the rally accident ruined everything.

In addition to formulas, Kubica, who has driven rally and endurance races, assures that he is at peace with his destiny. He commented on the possible end of his F1 career at the end of last season in Abu Dhabi.

– I have no problems with that. I am realistic. At the age of 38, it is no longer very realistic to expect to get a driving seat in formula one.
