The Aldi on the Groningerstraat in Assen was evacuated this afternoon due to a fire. A lot of smoke was released from the fire, which started in a cardboard press machine.
According to bystanders, it was difficult for the fire brigade to extinguish the fire because the cardboard press was closed. The fire brigade would have made a hole in the machine with a grinder.
The nearby bike path was closed off by the police. It is unknown what caused the fire.
