Confirmation comes from a study byEspad (the European School Survey Project for Alcohol and Other Drugs): “About 28 percent of Italian students between 15 and 19 years old claims to have used at least once of one or more illegal substances or alcohol and tells of having done so for various reasons: need to alter the state of consciousness or to experience different or more intense sensations, attempt to break away from everyday life, desire to be more uninhibited or sociable, the need to weld a sense of belonging to the group“.

And surveys confirm that in 35 percent of cases it is the alteration that is the cause of road accidents with serious injuries or victims. This is why the Italian Society of Pediatrics reiterates the risks that must always be kept in mind by adults and children.

THEthe first concerns “cannabis and the other similar substances that in small doses they cause feelings of well-beingdecreased inhibitions, tendency to talk and laugh more than usual, loss of concentration, appetite, increased heart rate, red eyes, difficulty in balance and motor coordination, sleepiness. In stronger doses they intensify the effects and tend to distort the perception of time, space, sounds and colors. And in much stronger doses they cause confusion, agitation, anxiety, panicsometimes visual hallucinatory phenomena can also occur with distortion of body perception that can return in the form of “flashbacks” as well as interfering with short-term memory and logical thinking ».

Very high attention also for alcohol and in particular for “binge drinking”: “The habit of drinking large quantities of alcohol in a short time until you get dizzy turns into an additional risk factor compared to” normal “use and can cause tremors, heart arrhythmias, convulsions and even hallucinations“.
