Alcaraz also shines on grass

Tennis shooting star Carlos Alcaraz is getting better and better on grass.

In London’s Queen’s Club, in only his third tournament on the unfamiliar surface, the 20-year-old reached the semi-finals on Friday. The Spaniard prevailed against the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrow 6: 4, 6: 4 and now meets Sebastian Korda (USA).

Up until this week, Alcaraz had only played on grass twice at Wimbledon, in 2021 he was eliminated in the second round, but last year he had already reached the round of 16. The second in the world rankings celebrated his greatest successes on clay and hard courts: he has won ten tournaments so far, including the title at the US Open last year.

Most recently, he was knocked out in the semifinals in Roland Garros by eventual champion Novak Djokovic and also lost his lead in the rankings to the Serbs. Alcaraz prepared for the short grass season with videos by Roger Federer and Andy Murray to see the running technique of the former Wimbledon winners, as he said in London.
