Ajax players mourn after ‘dramatic season’: “Major cleaning is urgently needed”

Ajax was able to save the season somewhat with the cup, but things also went wrong in De Kuip yesterday. In Café Hans on the Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam, sympathetic Ajax players saw their club misunderstand again. “It doesn’t last: 120 million spent, but it is poverty-proof.”

“I don’t think there is one trainer who can make this team football champion of the Netherlands,” says a disappointed supporter afterwards. “This was a dramatic season”, another Ajax fan continues. René Klinkenberg, owner of Café Hans, is a lot more optimistic about the future. “Next year it will be big again for the baker.”

Ajax will play four more matches in the competition. The team of trainer John Heitinga will have to make every effort in this. The team from Amsterdam is currently third, three points behind number two PSV. AZ is breathing down Ajax’s neck. The two will face each other in the Johan Cruijff Arena this Saturday.
