The 21-year-old Ünüvar played on a rental basis for the Spanish Espanyol in the first half of this season. His contract with Ajax ran until the summer of 2026. “I am happy to be back at FC Twente, the club where I felt at home last season,” Ünüvar says on the website of the club from Enschede. “The fact that I am now signing a contract for several years also gives me a good feeling. I feel fit. I want to be important for the team as quickly as possible and achieve the goals for this season with the team.”

Ajax no longer has to pay Ünüvar’s salary now that his contract has been terminated. “Naci has indicated that he would like to return to the Netherlands and had a pleasant period in Enschede last season,” Ajax technical director Alex Kroes said in a press release. “By resolving it in this way with the clubs involved and himself, a situation has been created in which all parties are satisfied. This way he can continue his football career well.”
