Gloukh played for RB Salzburg for the past two years and after his departure at Maccabi Tel Aviv also spoke with Ajax. He is the fourth addition to the club from Amsterdam for the new season, after Venezslav Jaros, Raúl Moro and Joeri Heerkens.

Ko Itakura must become the fifth newcomer. The Japanese defender of Borussia Mönchengladbach came into the picture after it became clear that Jorrel Hato is almost certainly leaving for Chelsea.

Excellent game insight

“Oscar is a hugely creative and skilled attacking midfielder who guarantees goals and assists,” says technical director Alex Kroes in a press release. “He is also a smart player with an excellent game insight and is also extremely eager to learn and ambitious. In our conversations he made it clear that he sees Ajax as the ideal club to further develop. That he did not opt for the big money, but for the sporting plan of Ajax, says everything about his character and mentality.”

The new Eredivisie season of Ajax starts on Sunday 10 August. In round 1, Telstar comes to the Johan Cruijff Arena (kick -off 2.30 pm).
