An aircraft bomb from World War II was found on a sports field in Berlin-Marzahn on Tuesday evening. More than 10,000 residents may have to evacuate their homes for the planned mitigation.

The bomb was found on the grounds of the sports field at Geraer Ring 30 during the planned search for ammunition contamination. So far, the police have not been able to provide any information on the origin and weight.

An evacuation of the surrounding houses will be necessary during the defusing. As a police spokesman announced in the evening, it should be defused this Thursday.

Just last week, a Russian aerial bomb was found and defused on Landsberger Allee in Hohenschönhausen.
