A funeral prayer was held at Elmadağ Sungur Mosque in the afternoon for the national football player Ahmet Çalık, who lost his life in a traffic accident. Çalık’s body was later buried in the family cemetery in Elmadağ Cemetery.

Speaking to reporters after the funeral, İlhan Palut said that the football community is in great mourning.

Palut, who could not hold back his tears while speaking, reminded that they gave the football players a day off due to the Kovid-19 epidemic cases, “Today was our day off. We did not want to gather at the club because of the epidemic. Ahmet was going to Ankara to organize his affairs. He had such an accident on the road. May God have mercy on him. We are very sorry. “We are not in a position to talk. May God give patience to his family and us.” he said.

Explaining that Ahmet Çalık is an athlete renowned for his mastery, Palut said:

“Some people’s inner beauty is reflected on their face. Ahmet was such an athlete. He was a person like diamonds. I can’t find words to express our sadness, he was a very valuable athlete. We lost a very honest, very helpful, very exemplary young man. I offer my condolences to the Turkish football public.”
