From aggression in healthcare to a misleading Easter advertisement from Jumbo. These are the five stories you must read on Friday.
Nurse Brenda from the emergency room in Den Bosch regularly has to deal with aggression. Recently she was verbally abused, filmed and threatened by a patient who demanded acute care. The situation escalated to such an extent that security and police had to intervene. Aggression against healthcare staff is increasing: the Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital in Tilburg registered an increase from 430 reports in 2024 to 561 in 2025. The four Tilburg residents suspected of the explosion and arson at a synagogue in Rotterdam will remain in custody for thirty days longer. These are two 19-year-old men, one 18-year-old and a 17-year-old boy, who are suspected of arson with terrorist intent. The police tracked them down through remarkable driving behavior; A jerry can was found in their car. Later, a fifth suspect aged 19 from Tilburg was also arrested. The Consumers’ Association reprimands Jumbo for a misleading Easter advertisement. The supermarket chain claims to offer ‘the lowest Easter prices in the Netherlands’ with flags and banners, but only compares thirty self-selected low-priced products with five other supermarkets. Expensive Easter products such as Easter eggs and Easter stollen are missing from the comparison. Despite discussions, Jumbo refuses to adjust or remove the posters in stores.
