Bavaria’s basketball players celebrate their first Euroleague victory: European champions Andreas Obst and Oscar da Silva shine at 97:88 against Red Star Belgrade. The first hurdle in the fight for the playoffs has been taken.
FC Bayern Munich has achieved the first success in the Euroleague-and especially thanks to a spectacular three-way gala by Andreas Obst. In the 97: 88 home win against Red Star Belgrade, the European champion shone with 31 points and sank nine distances.
The Munich team initially struggled and were 50:55 behind at halftime. After the break, however, Coach Gordon Herbert’s team found the right rhythm: in the third quarter, Bavaria took the lead and started the last quarter with 77:72. A strong 9: 1 run then made the decision early. In addition to fruit, Oscar da Silva, also European champion, convinced with 12 points.
FCB is aiming to play playoffs
For Bavaria it was an important victory after the opening defeat (79:87) at Panathinaikos Athens. This season, 20 teams in the league mode will compete against each other for the first time, including Dubai basketball – a total of 38 main round games are waiting.
The Munich favorites in the Bundesliga aim to reach the playoffs. The next opponent in the Euroleague is Zalgiris Kaunas. After Alba Berlin has left, Bavaria is the last German representative in the highest European club competition.
