Leipzig had recently lost four competitive games. They kept up well against the favorites from Hoffenheim, but in the end they lost again.
RB Leipzig’s women’s soccer team can no longer win. The 2:3 (0:1) on the last matchday of the first half of the season was the fifth competitive defeat in a row. Valesca Ampoorter gave Hoffenheim the lead after 25 minutes. Emilia Asgeirsdottir (56th) equalized. Laura Gloning (63′) managed to take the visitors’ lead again, which Gina Chmielinski (64′) immediately equalized in return. National player Selina Cerci (80th) scored the winning goal for the guests, who defended their fourth place in the table. RB ranks tenth.
RB missed a late equalizer
For one half, the guests were clearly the better team. RB was forced into defense and was hardly able to relieve the pressure going forward. The narrow deficit at the break was only due to the fact that Hoffenheim handled the opportunities that presented themselves almost criminally. Leipzig, on the other hand, hardly recorded any offensive action.
That changed after the break. RB became more active and more powerful. Although TSG missed a great chance to make it 2-0 immediately before the 1-1 equalizer, Asgeirsdottir’s goal was not undeserved. And RB showed morals. They weren’t impressed by the new deficit either, but immediately made it 2-2. After Cerci’s header made it 2-3, the Leipzig team had nothing left to add, although Delice Boboy had great chances to equalize two minutes before the final whistle and Asgeirsdottir in stoppage time.
