Residents have already protested several times against a quarry. They point to the vast nature here and are concerned about road safety. In their most recent application, the company reduced the number of trucks from 80 to a maximum of 60 per day and also made adjustments to reduce visual and noise nuisance. But again there are more than 370 objections and around 1200 people signed a petition.
The city follows the residents, it is now up to Minister of Area Brouns to decide. He still has until December 13 to judge the situation.
