Fran Vanhoutte already convinced by a victory in the series and second place in her semi -final. The West Flemish had to compete in the final against a number of South American riders, in which world champion Timms Ariza turned out to be the best. Jorun Geerts qualified through fifth place in her series for the semi -finals, but rode a slower semi -final battle than Vanhoutte, making the third place insufficient for the final.
For Vanhoutte it was all her fourth medal in these world games. On Thursday she took gold on the slope in the 500 meters and bronze in the 200 -meter time trial. Tuesday she was also good for silver in the 500 meters on the road. It is the thirteenth medal for the Belgian delegation in Chengdu, the fourth bronze.
