Gabriel Clemens drew a lot of attention to darts in Germany. After his success at the Darts World Cup in London, the Saarlander hopes that many young people will find their way into darts. That’s what “Gaga” said during his visit to the “sportarena” on Sunday in SR.

Gabriel Clemens caused a small sensation at the Darts World Cup in London with his semi-final entry. “Gaga” is currently the best German professional darts player and has raised the German sport of darts to a new level.

He brings the sport suddenly a lot of attention in Germany. The semifinals on January 2 saw even more viewers than the RTL quiz classic “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”. His competitors in darts also appreciate the importance of Clemens for the sport. Professional player Fallon Sherrock, for example, said: “What Gabriel has done for darts in Germany is great. If he continues like this, he can win the title next year.”

Hoping for a boost for the sport

In the sports arena, Clemens emphasizes that he hopes that his success will give the sport a boost in Germany: “I hope that many young people will start playing darts and discover the sport for themselves.”

Gabriel himself only started with the sport at the age of 18. “Quite normal in the pub,” as he says. “At some point someone asked me if I wanted to join the club.”

Premier League within reach?

After his great success, the training continues immediately, says Clemens.

There are certainly enough goals. For example the Premier League: According to media reports, the world association PDC wants to announce the participants for the prestigious invitation league in the course of January. Clemens himself does not expect an appointment – not yet.
