After the racism scandal in RB Leipzig: “The issue was clarified in the dressing room”

After the racism scandal among RB Leipzig’s youth team, head coach Marco Rose praised the youth players’ quick intervention. “Big compliments to the boys because this issue was clarified in the dressing room. Someone stood up there and said it doesn’t work that way. The club then drew the necessary and correct consequences,” said Rose on Friday.

Discuss RB Leipzig now in the forum.

On Thursday, Leipzig kicked out two U19 players who had blasphemed a teammate and made derogatory comments about his skin color. Rose contradicted a media report that said the victim of the insults was El Chadaille Bitshiabu. “It wasn’t about Chad, but in the end that doesn’t matter. If it doesn’t hit him, it hits someone else. We have to be uncompromising,” said Rose.

The 47-year-old made it clear once again that the two released players will have no future at RB. He also advocated that the duo should learn from their mistake. “We are of course happy to provide advice in order to develop knowledge, to develop a feeling for what they actually said and did, so that we can then do it better in the future,” says Rose.

The coach drew a parallel to the many demonstrations against right-wing extremism that are currently taking place in Germany. “We’re taking to the streets to fight this and I think it’s right and important that we stick with it,” said Rose. Last week he had already called for people to defend themselves against right-wing extremist tendencies in Germany.
