Due to high sickness rates and a general shortage of staff, the Berlin transport company (BVG) is temporarily restricting its bus traffic slightly from the end of the summer holidays.
“There are adjustments on lines with dense cycles or where there are parallel traffic,” the company announced on Thursday. Overall, the current bus offer should be reduced by three percent from August 22nd. “All lines and stops will continue to be served,” it said.
School traffic will not be restricted either. The BVG will announce details of the affected bus lines a few days in advance.
Especially on the heavily frequented routes, buses should be running at a slightly lower frequency. “The current pandemic development does not stop at the transport companies,” said the BVG as a reason.
“In combination with a tense labor market situation, this unfortunately means that the BVG has to slightly adjust the offer in the bus sector after the holidays.” The company wants to return to the usual timetable as soon as possible, emphasized a spokesman. It remains unclear when this will be possible again.
