Bochum (dpa) – After the cup throwing scandal in the Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfL Bochum is demanding a replay.

That said VfL lawyer Horst Kletke of the German Press Agency. First, the “image” reported on the demand of the climber. “We condemn the cup throwing, it’s a massive crime, there’s nothing to sugarcoat it, it’s condemnable, it’s unbearable,” said Kletke. “But if a criminal throws a cup, VfL Bochum is not to blame.”

The offender bought his drink completely legally and the club was not at fault for the crime. “That’s why the game has to be replayed. That’s in paragraph 18, the fourth point of the DFB’s legal and procedural rules,” said Kletke.

There it says: “If a national game is canceled prematurely through no fault of either team, it must be repeated at the same place.” According to Kletke, Bochum was only at fault if the perpetrator had smuggled the cup into the football stadium and the VfL security guards had overlooked him.

According to a joint statement from the police and the public prosecutor’s office, there is a suspect. It is a 38-year-old from Bochum. The game against Gladbach was stopped in the second half when the score was 2-0 for the guests after assistant referee Christian Gittelmann was hit by a drinking cup.
