State of shock instead of party! Immediately after Leipzig’s cup victory against Freiburg (5:3 nE) there was a medical emergency in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

A person who had collapsed there shortly before had to be resuscitated in front of the Leipzig bank. Emergency physicians use chest compressions and a defibrillator to save the person’s life.

According to BILD information, it is a fan who had gained access to the lawn in the hustle and bustle via the photographer’s stand and collapsed on the edge of the field. That is why the information initially circulates that the person concerned is a photographer.

Paramedics gather in front of the Leipzig bank, unnoticed, and cover the patient with several blankets to hide the bad images from the fans in the stadium and the TV viewers. Gradually, the party atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium turns into an eerie silence.

There are worrying scenes reminiscent of the collapse of Christian Eriksen (30) at the EM 2021. The Danish international suffered a cardiac arrest during a game.

The stadium announcer announces: “There has been a medical emergency. That’s why, out of respect, we’re postponing the award ceremony indefinitely.” This is followed by gentle applause in the stadium.

Very beautiful: The 74,475 spectators in the Olympic Stadium held up their smartphones and switched on their flashlights. This creates a touching moment of cohesion and solidarity with the patient.

A short time later, the stadium announcer gives the all-clear: the person’s condition is stable. After a total treatment time of around 20 minutes, the patient is picked up by an ambulance and taken to the clinic. Loud applause again in the Olympic Stadium!

Take a deep breath in Berlin – and the award ceremony is delayed.
