Following the tragic death of drummer Taylor Hawkins on Friday (March 25), the Foo Fighters’ 2009 greatest hits album has re-entered the top five of the official UK Albums Chart. This is reported by the Official Charts Company (OCC).
An increase in sales and streams of the most popular songs has meant that the hit collection is currently ranked fourth following the mid-week update (March 28) – the same position it held when it was first released in the UK.
According to the OCC, the live record “Skin And Bones”, released in 2006, is also on the best way to re-enter the top 40 and is currently at number 36. The Foo Fighters classic “Everlong” from 1997 is currently on reached No. 58 in the UK Singles Chart, while The Pretender (2007) and Best Of You (2005) re-entered at Nos. 95 and 100 respectively.
The music world condoles
Taylor Hawkins was found dead in his hotel room at the age of 50 during his band’s world tour. At the time, the Foo Fighters were in the Colombian capital, Bogotá. In a statement, they confirmed the news of their drummer’s death and said they were “devastated by the tragic and untimely loss” of their bandmate.
Hawkins had ten different substances in his body
On Saturday evening (March 26), the Colombian Attorney General stated in an official statement that a urine test had detected various medicines and drugs in the body of Taylor Hawkins: “The toxicological analysis revealed ten different types of substances, including THC – the found in marijuana – tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids,” the investigators said in their statement. At the moment it is still unclear whether this toxic mixture also led to the death of the musician.
