In the last game of the regular competition, Apollo Amsterdam registered its first victory of the season. In the North Holland derby against Den Helder Suns, the victory was achieved in extremis: 84-81.

Before the game, Apollo was scoreless at the bottom of the basketball premier league. The team from Amsterdam lost seventeen games in a row. A good outcome also seemed to be a difficult story against Den Helder Suns. In the first quarter a gap was created: 18-24. The difference at halftime was eleven points in favor of Suns: 36-47.
The team of coach Wierd Goedee always had to chase, but supported by the Amsterdam public, it benefited from Suns’ mistakes. In the third quarter, Apollo crept closer, resulting in an exciting final phase. Both teams were tied 81-81 with four seconds left on the clock. Shot in it Deividas Kumelus hit a three-pointer and Apollo took the first victory.
