In the stoppage time of the game against Mainz 05, the emotions cook up for a short time. The focus: the Bremen – and referee Martin Petersen.
Werder Bremen midfielder Leonardo Bittencourt has sharply attacked referee Martin Petersen after the 1-0 victory of the North German against Mainz 05. The impartial “showed the whole game about an arrogance-hats off distributing red cards without need,” said the 31-year-old at DAZN.
What happened? In the stoppage time of the game on Friday evening there were several exciters – and three references to Bremen:
Minute 90+3 in the Weser Stadium: Werder defender Jannik Stark stands in the Mainz half on the sidelines for throw-in, but passes the ball on to teammate Mitchell Weiser. For Petersen apparently time game-the impartial pulls yellow, then sees that it was already very warned, and then shows the completely stunned defender directly yellow-red. Stark’s teammate Marco Friedl zu Petersen immediately storms, complains about the decision-apparently too vehemently: Petersen also shows Friedl yellow-red, just a few seconds after the first dismissal.
After the final whistle you can see on TV pictures of how Werder coach Ole Werner goes to the referee team, shaking the impartial hands, visibly excitingly says and moving away again. But Petersen are apparently too direct, he runs after Werner and shows the trainer smooth red.
Afterwards Werner himself wanted to appease from DAZN: He saw red, “because I didn’t have a grip, that shouldn’t happen to me. I can only apologize for that.” In the past few weeks – Bremen was previously four games without a win – has “dammed up”. Werner did not want to comment on the controversial exposure to his players.
Bittencourt became clearer: “I know our trainer, who is a calm fellow species, actually. I don’t think he can have said anything to get a red card. No matter how much Ole Werner drives out of his skin – he is A fair sportsman. ” On the contrary: referee Petersen “was probably in the mood today to show Werder Bremen red cards.” And further: “What went on the pitch today was under all sow for me.”
