After Rammstein’s statement on new allegations of abuse: This is how the fans react

On the occasion of the new, serious allegations against Rammstein singer Till Lindemann, the band released a statement on Saturday (June 3rd) in which they asked, among other things, not to be prejudiced – and in which they firmly condemned “any kind of encroachment”. . Reactions to this on social media have been mixed.

Many fans are clearly on the side of the Berlin musicians. An Instagram user reports about her own (positive) experiences with the group. “I was at the pre-party, I was at the after-party. Till was absolutely nice and friendly to his fans. That’s probably still the way people seek attention,” she says. Another person describes it similarly: “I always felt safe backstage! Musicians, crew and their friends were always polite and nice. I believe you and I hope everything will work itself out!”

However, a social media user is convinced that Lindemann would never use violence against women. “In fact, I am convinced that the person concerned would rather fight for a woman than raise his hand against her. Set up game! #istandwithrammstein,” she says. A male fan argued neutrally: “I think that investigations are ongoing and we all, sooner or later, will find out what it was all about.”

“Till’s public behavior has been a problem for a long time”

But there is also a lot of fundamental criticism of Lindemann and the band. “Till’s public behavior has been a problem for a long time. It is neither stylish nor to be qualified as an artistic expression…” writes one person — and gets concrete: “‘Till the End’ and the amateur video of oral sex that was taken during a Rammstein gig and appeared during a Lindemann concert , were really strange things that nobody really understands… It’s so sad to realize that my idols aren’t the people I thought they were”.

Solidarity with the alleged victims is also expressed: “Why should women invent something like this, who would have to reckon with being sued, and on top of that, on charcoal. I can imagine it happening,” one commenter wrote. The content of the band’s statement was also criticized: “How you can’t say anything with so many words! First comes the money and then the morale. You also have daughters, how do you explain all this to them?” says one commentator.

An Instagram user, on the other hand, thinks Rammstein should have taken a stand earlier. “The post is late. It should have come days ago. Twitter can now no longer be in the fence [sic] hold.”

Someone else emphasizes the presumption of innocence, which still applies: “And once again you notice that people and the media obviously do not know the ‘presumption of innocence’ anchored in the Basic Law, so they prefer to invest diligently in propaganda against the accused. Lindemann is certainly not to everyone’s taste, but NOTHING has been proven and until then he is considered innocent.”

Rammstein: “The allegations hit us all very hard”

The band wrote in their statement: “The releases of the last few days have caused irritation and questions among the public and especially among our fans. The allegations hit us all very hard and we take them extremely seriously. We say to our fans: It is important to us that you feel comfortable and safe at our shows – in front of and behind the stage. We condemn any kind of transgression and ask you: Do not engage in public prejudice of any kind towards those who have made allegations. You have a right to your point of view. But we, the band, also have a right – namely not to be prejudiced either.” Till Lindemann himself has not yet commented on the new allegations.
