After IOC decision: start under a neutral flag for athletes from Russia and Belarus?

The world triathlon association wants to enable athletes from Russia and Belarus to take part in upcoming competitions, provided they compete as neutral athletes.

This is an “absolute condition” for a return to a world triathlon event, the world association announced on Thursday. The umbrella organization of triathletes, which, like the IOC, has its headquarters in Lausanne, supports the path of the International Olympic Committee.

A few weeks ago, the IOC recommended that athletes from Russia and Belarus should be allowed back into international competitions as neutral athletes under certain conditions. There had been a lot of criticism of the decision under the impression of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.
