After the match at 1. FC Slovacko was postponed, 1. FC Köln were running out of time until the Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim. The Cologne team is trying to move the game on Sunday.

After the conference league game at FC Slovacko was postponed to this Friday (1 p.m. / RTL+) due to fog, 1. FC Köln are trying to move the Bundesliga game against TSG Hoffenheim.

According to the Rhinelanders, they are therefore “in exchange” with the German Football League (DFL). As the Cologne team also announced, managing director Christian Keller will comment on this after the game on Friday. The game against Hoffenheim has so far been scheduled for Sunday (7.30 p.m. / DAZN).

According to the rules of the DFL rules of the game, a short-term postponement of the Bundesliga game is basically possible: Paragraph 2 states under game schedules about changes in time and location: “The DFL eV can make a short-term change in the date for overriding or compelling organizational and/or safety reasons.”

Already on Thursday evening after the game was abandoned, FC coach Steffen Baumgart had campaigned for his team to have a longer regeneration period before the next task in the Bundesliga. “I think it would be good if the game against Hoffenheim was relocated. If there’s a chance, we’d like to do it. We’ll see what’s possible. We should tackle that,” said Baumgart.

The game between Cologne and Slovacko was stopped in the seventh minute on Thursday due to dense fog and will continue on Friday with the score at 0-0. Florian Kainz expressed understanding for this decision: “It definitely made sense that this game was not played further.” The midfielder is confident that the team will master the unusual test of patience: “Now we have to make sure that we’re there when the whistle starts again tomorrow. In a 1:00 p.m. game everything will be different. I’m sure we’ll do that still do well.”

The starting position for the Bundesliga tenth is tricky. After beating Partizan Belgrade (8 points) 2-1 on Thursday, Nice (8 points) took the lead. Cologne and the Czechs are three points behind. FC will meet Nice at home for the group showdown on November 3rd. The group winners qualify directly for the round of 16. The eight second move into an upstream knockout round against the eight Europa League relegated.
