The previous edition was not exactly flawless: there was one stabbinga power outage where people got stuck in attractions and a 4-year-old boy The Crazy Clown fell.

Yet the same attraction is again there this year. “There are extra straps, the brackets have been re -adjusted, the speed has been adjusted and everything has been re -inspected by the NVWA,” explains Event Manager Bas of the municipality. “As long as there is an approval, he can stand – just like a car that comes through the MOT.”

To cope with a power outage, the buffers have been expanded this year, says Bas. “If the power fails, most attractions have an extra battery, so there is still enough energy to get everyone safe and quickly on the ground.”

Entrepreneurs are eyes and ears

There is also more camera surveillance on the Kanaalkade and at the Grote Kerk this year. “Entrepreneurs are our eyes and ears. As soon as something is going on, we hear that. There is security around and youth work is also being used. We are extra alert.”
